Since the middle of the nineteenth century, when Louis Braille first invented his code using six raised dots which, in different combinations, represent all the letters in the alphabet plus the punctuation marks, this system has become an essential communications tool for the blind, irreplaceable ever since, even with the advent of the new technologies. The ONCE teaches children and adults to read and write using this code and produces a large quantity of material in Braille. |
