ONCE Foundation: supporting other disabilities

Logotipo de Fundación ONCE

The ONCE created the ONCE Foundation in 1988 to ensure the social inclusion of people with disabilities. The ONCE allocated a significant percentage of the proceeds from its games of chance to developing the functions of its Foundation, which symbolizes the embodiment of the permanent ties felt by Spanish blind people toward other groups representing people with disabilities other than blindness.

There are currently over four million people with disabilities in our country. The ONCE Foundation centers its efforts around two goals:
Labor integration through training and job programs.
Universal accessibility, a concept that spans the possibility of learning about, enjoying and using venues, products and services, as well as “design for all”.

The work of the ONCE Foundation is overseen by a Trust which, in addition to the Foundation itself, represents the country’s federations of associations of persons with disabilities.

Over its twenty-plus years of existence, the ONCE Foundation has become a national and international benchmark in the struggle to place disabled persons on an equal footing with their fellow citizens.
