Membership of the ONCE
Membership of the ONCE is voluntary. In order to become a member, the applicant is required to be a Spanish national, visual acuity in both eyes of 0.1 (corresponding to 1/10 on the Wecker Scale) or under, obtained with the best possible optical correction, and with visual field not exceeding 10 degrees in both eyes.
Members enjoy access to all social services offered by the ONCE as well as the possibility of working as Cupón Lotto Sales Agent or filling any other suitable vacancy within the Organisation.
Around 4,000 people become members of the ONCE each year. Currently, membership includes 23% totally blind individuals and 77% of individuals with severe visual impairment.
